Tipnut Favorite: 11 Ways to Reuse Newspaper Around the House

11 Ways To Reuse Newspaper Around The House from Tipnut:
1.)Use sheets of newspaper to wash your windows, glass table tops and mirrors. Just spray on window cleaner then wipe clean with a sheet of newspaper.
2.)Use in messy cleanup jobs like cleaning the oven, use sheets of crumpled newspaper to wipe up most of the gunk before wiping down with a soapy wet sponge.
3.)Pack newspapers in damp or smelly luggage, stinky plastic containers or smelly fridge to absorb odors. Great to do when packing away camping coolers for the winter, stuff them with newspapers so they won’t stink in the Spring.
4.)Roll newspaper tight and use as firestarters.
5.)Use to wrap parcels and gifts, the cartoon section is popular with the kiddos.
6.)Pack unripened fruit with newspaper to help them ripen quicker.
7.)Painting jobs: lay newspapers on the floor to catch paint splatters, wet sheets of paper and stick on windows when painting window trim, no more splatters on window glass to wipe up.
8.)Line trash cans, use newspapers to line worm bins, line the bottom of a cat litter tray before adding cat litter, makes cleanup easier.
9.)Also use to line pet cages.
10.)Lay sheets of newspapers in garden beds about 1/4″ inch thick before covering with wood chips, mulch or decorative rocks, will help prevent weed growth. Make sure to thoroughly moisten the newspaper before covering with the mulch so they stay in place.
11.)Make garden seed starting pots

------------

Before we junk the papers, let us first review this list. Some of Tipnut readers say they also recycle the dailies by:
1.) Stuffing wet sneakers, boots, etc. It will abosrb all the moisture and shoes will dry much faster!
2.)For cleaning windows, it doesn’t leave linty stuff behind like paper towels do, and a spray bottle filled with a vinegar/water solution works great too.
3.)Put a layer of newspaper in the bottom of the veggie drawer in the fridge to soak up any watery stuff that leaks out of the veggies.
4.) Layer  newspapers in the bottom of the trash bag in the waste basket to soak up any drips so you don’t drip all the way from the waste basket to the trash can outside and have something to clean up when you come back inside.
3.)Spring Cleaning, once you’ve cleaned the top of your kitchen cabinets (open shelf facing ceiling) fold sheets of newpaper to the size of the shelf, and place all along the shelf. It collects dust and grease from frying. No more scrubbing.Next time you spring clean, it will be quick and easy. Just roll the dirty sheets of newspaper together, throw away, then give your shelf a fast wipe and replace with clean newspaper.
4.)Use newspaper to stuff washed tennis shoes. It helps the shoe keep it’s original shape.
5.)You can shred newspapers and use for your pet's cage, then put used stuff in the compost pile.
Cheap and safe for our pet and excellent way to balance the kitchen “green” materials in the compost.

Philhealth's 10K aid to dengue patients in Yolanda-hit areas.

"PhilHealth offers special privileges to typhoon Yolanda victims"

-------------------------------------------------
True.
And we will forever be grateful for Philhealth and Dr.Christine Veloso-Navarro for helping us lessen our hospital bill during my childminders's confinement at Ormoc Gatchian Hospital last week.
I have read about this project but was uncertain of their proposition. When I found out that my minder has dengue(after erratic body temps, discomforts and blood tests),my physician friend told me to include her in the impoverished/penniless list for instant Philhealth aid.
And we were financially abetted.
Thank God for mistimed but still lucky/opportune times.

-------------------------------------------------

Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is extending medical coverage to all “Yolanda” survivors regardless of whether they sought medical treatment in an accredited facility in Tacloban or in any other region in the country.
PhilHealth CEO and President Alexander Padilla told a press conference yesterday that the national health insurance agency is reimbursing medical claims of Yolanda survivors whether they were hospitalized in Tacloban or outside the city. Those who were not members prior to the calamity will still benefit from PhilHealth packages.
“In a way, automatic silang nagiging member kasi nakukuha naming . . . We are covering all, whether they are member or non-member and whether they were treated in Tacloban or in Manila. We are also covering whether they were treated in makeshift medical tents or in a hospital,” Padilla said.
“We’ve given latitude…We are assuming that all cases are Yolanda-related if it happened during that period so that we no longer have to make a distinction if a particular injury was Yolanda-related or not,” he said.

Dot @ 6: A low-cost festivity

We started dot's day with a cheery note. She was giftless the first few hours but we promised her a fun-filled day.We had chicken and Halo-halo from an eminent Chinese bistro. After chomping, we went to my clinic, waited for a few hours until her special buddy for the day shows up-(Julienne,her favorite female cousin). She then requested for a Bee odyssey with their childminders. After the Jolly date, they went to Play House for a 30min amuse-yourself affair.

We went to Gaisano Riverside after clinic hours for the much awaited gift-selection.A binary from MomPop, and a twofold from NayTay.

Finished off the frolicsome day at Sutuwaki. The starched ambiance and delectable food made dot's day tyke-smart!

2014 Cebu Saunter

The Ablens (a hefty 16pax) took a slow boat to Cebu,Friday May 25. Daughter slept so late, and my eyes were just so huge the entire night I never even felt sleepy at all.(Secret: I have a big fear of ships and seas.Darn.)

àBut hey, this is how summers should be!

Okay...So the boat left at 10pm, Cebu was already discernible(?) around  2am.

Here’s the Rota:

Day 1,Saturday:
(Where the Mansions are--White Hills,Banawa,Cebu. We stayed at Ate Malou's(sis in law) jumbo home as well.)

(Cherubs in action)

(Because we are major slackers!Haha!)

(Pretty,eccentric stairs)

                                                              (The napping, drowsy bunch)
(A treasure trove.)

After a quick sunup snooze, we went to SM for preliminary shopping.I was literally robbed  at Toys R Us,spending almost p2000 for dot’s toys.Tsk tsk..We sauntered for some cheapo shoes,Ajiichiban sweetmeats,Vitamin B articles for my woozy patients,a p50 book from BookSale and a shrewd green ink for my name stamp.Dot enjoyed the Playroom Palace and the naughty motor ride.

(A freebie from Toy Kingdom, for every 1 Moolah up purchases)

(3 Play Doh sets from Toy Kingdom+Kengko World Thingamajigs+Barbie leaves)

(Only p50!)

(The grass ink)

Met ze folks for dinner @ Mooon Cafe at Robinsons Cybergate. They’re here for the NatCon.At dahil ako ay  preoccupied (no childminder in tow),ABSENT. Again.Hehe. We had a blast at Kenko, where cute Jap articles are swamping with glee.

Day 2,Sunday:
An early morn nosebleed greeted me before the troop attended mass at the Alliance of Two Hearts. We  stayed in Ayala to beat the heat the entire afternoon. My first trip to Muji was breathtaking! Those frosty and tanned plains made my day!
The kids enjoyed Blue Bell icecream, and yes,the roomy Playroom.
After a 4-hr saunter,we hurredly went home to White Hills to grace Eloi’s graduation party. It was indeed a cosmic one, with an immense number of foodstuff!

(My Muji Frosty Duo)
Muji-"A happy place"

Day 3,Monday:
An unanticipated  Pacific Mall trip with the group brought  me to a zero-spending position. Except perhaps the big bowl of fries and lazy donuts at the foodcourt.Ahem.

Day 4,Tuesday:
Another giddy trip to SM tore the sides of my cash can! Ha ha! Spent a gigantic 4k with only a few exciting stuff at Forever 21, Ace,a Jockey sando, ballet flats (again), and an ocu-patch for my blazer!
Dot and I had a kinda serious date at the Famous Belgian Waffles too.

BTW: We were at Mactan International Airport for a Molons Send off , late-night
(A sublime Ace purchase.)

(My first Forever 21 fandangles.Because you know, Cebu is formatively and cleverly far)

(MomDot quick date)

(New ocu-patch for my clinic)

(@ The Molons Send off=Mactan International Airport)

Day 5,Wednesday:
The Crocolandia walk with the group,7/11 ice cream trial ,SM grilling pan, power slicer/chopper,GPRS center tarp request , plus the scorching heat made me cranky! Lol!

(Print Ads for ePay/Busyhands)

Day 6,Thursday:
A delish Matias barbecue chomp with the Molon kids and the quick trip to Ayala before our C-O  voyage was amusing! Those Toys and Tickles needless to say,are pricey!

(Canvass=Passbook/bills/receipts holder @ Tickles, Ayala Center Cebu. Only p150!)

An almost 22K expenditure for a sunny vacay in Cebu this summer is truly worth the time lag!
