Quick Info: Eye Twitch

Image from Food Pyramid

Sharing this helpful Article from WebMD about Eye twitch:

Eye twitching is a repetitive, uncontrollable blinking or spasm of the eyelid, usually the upper lid.
Eye twitching (blepharospasm) usually affects the eye muscles of both eyes. If you have eye twitching, you may have an involuntary movement that recurs every several seconds for a minute or two. Most people develop a minor eyelid twitch at some point in their lives. Although the cause is generally unknown, it may be associated with:
  • Fatigue
  • Stress
  • Caffeine
This minor form of twitch is painless and harmless. It usually goes away on its own. But it can be quite annoying. And that's especially true if the spasms are strong enough to cause the eyelids to completely shut and then reopen. In some cases eye twitching is more than a temporary nuisance. Some people have spasms that occur frequently throughout the day. Symptoms can recur for days, weeks, or even months. That can cause a lot of emotional distress. It can interfere with quality of life.
In its most serious forms, which are relatively uncommon, eye twitching can become chronic. It can cause persistent winking and squinting. If it progresses to the point where you have difficulty keeping your eyes open, it can cause severe vision impairment.
Sometimes, eye twitching can be a sign of eye conditions such as:
  • Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids)
  • Dry eyes
  • Light sensitivity
  • Pinkeye
Very rarely, it can be a sign of a brain or nerve disorder, such as:
  • Bell's palsy
  • Dystonia
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Tourette's syndrome
Eye twitching can also be a side effect of certain medications. The most common offenders include drugs used in the treatment of psychosis and epilepsy.

Types of Eye Twitching

There are three common types of eye twitch:
  • Minor eyelid twitch
  • Benign essential blepharospasm
  • Hemifacial spasm
Minor eyelid twitch is often associated with lifestyle factors, such as:
  • Fatigue
  • Stress
  • Lack of sleep
  • Use of alcohol, tobacco, or caffeine
Minor eyelid twitch also can be caused by irritation of the surface of the eye (cornea) or the membranes lining the eyelids (conjunctiva).
Sometimes the cause of minor eyelid twitch cannot be identified. In almost all cases it is painless and harmless.
Benign essential blepharospasm usually develops in mid- to late-adulthood and gradually worsens. It affects about 20,000 to 50,000 Americans. It's twice as common in women as in men. It is not a serious condition but can interfere with your daily life in more severe cases.
Typically, benign essential blepharospasm starts with excessive blinking and/or eye irritation that may be triggered by:
  • Fatigue
  • Stress
  • Irritants such as bright light, wind, or air pollution
As the condition worsens, it may lead to an increased sensitivity to light, blurry vision, and facial spasms. In severe cases, the spasms can become so intense that the eyelids stay shut for up to several hours.
Researchers believe that benign essential blepharospasm may result from a combination of environmental and genetic factors. Although the condition is usually random, it sometimes runs in families.
Hemifacial spasm is quite rare and involves more than just the eyelid muscles. It also usually involves the muscles around the mouth. Unlike other types of eyelid twitching, it usually affects only one side of the face.
In most cases, hemifacial spasm is caused by an artery pressing on the nerve to the facial muscles.

Self-diagnosing (Severe) Anxiety Disorder

This is what and how I'm feeling right now.
I may be self-diagnosing but I'm gut-sure I have gone crazy.

.

Modified this piece of writing from Therapy Tribe. Only the fillers are mine ...

#1.)

Five types of Anxiety Disorders:

Panic Disorder
Individuals with panic disorder have repeated, unexpected attacks of intense fear accompanied by physical symptoms such as sweating, chest pain, heart palpitations, or a feeling of choking. Panic attacks can be so alarming that individuals often think they are going to die or lose control, and can develop a deep fear of having another attack. People who have full-blown, repeated panic attacks can become very disabled by their condition.

(Not quite convinced this category steers at me. I have heart palpitations and nervy knees but no chest pains thank goodness.)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a pattern of frequent anxiety and worry over different daily activities and events. People with generalized anxiety disorder go about their day filled with exaggerated worry and tension, even though there is little or nothing to provoke it. They anticipate disaster and are overly concerned about possible health problems, difficulties at work, money or family issues. This type of constant anxiety takes a physical toll causing body aches, poor sleep patterns and constant exhaustion.
(Not worried about events, even erratic timetables.Exaggeration, though,is my trademark.I anticipate disasters like they're gonna happen every single day)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop following a traumatic or life-threatening event such as war, the unexpected death of a loved one, rape, assault, a plane crash or a natural disaster. The normal psychological response to such trauma is "shock" or acute stress, and overtime these symptoms gradually lift. However, with PTSD you remain in a state of mental shock and symptoms begin to worsen. Symptoms of PTSD can be severe and cause significant problems at home, work, or other important areas of life.
(This is it! I actually have fears of dying, and after Haiyan, they haunt me up almost always!
Needless to say, there are things only Haiyan victims could understand)

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
Specific Phobias
>> Yes I constantly stress myself out by giving in to negative feelings and beliefs. Anxiety is destroying me.
>>True enough, these bad thoughts turned me into a weakling and I'm emotionally drained!

#2.) Anxiety Disorder Symptoms
Each person suffering from anxiety disorder has unique symptoms, however a common theme involves excessive anxiety, irrational fear and dread. Examples of anxiety symptoms include:
  • Feelings of panic, fear, and nervousness
  • Uncontrollable, obsessive thinking
  • Repeated thoughts or "flashbacks" of traumatic events
  • Nightmares, problems sleeping
  • Irrational ritualistic behaviors, such as repeated hand washing
  • Excessive sweating or numbness in the hands or feet
  • Shortness of breath, hyperventilation
  • Chest pain or Heart Palpitations
  • An inability to be still and calm
  • Dry mouth, Nausea, Dizziness

See?
I belong!

Playing with Bills

Here goes the first band of July bills plonked on my table.

(Sample snaps of my anticipated To Pay pile: Eastern Visayas Mail statement for a tiny classified ad/personal ad for ze clinic and Ortelco for our business phone.)

Skimming and organizing monthly payables require some serious techniques, fixation and shrewd habits.I am an entrepreneur, and I make a habit of salting away a few dosh every work day to prepare myself for billed articles.

These are the rules I alternately carry out just to cope up with the relentless paying:

*My 3-day/5-day gap precept-I schedule bills in 3/5-day distances to give myself time to raise.
*1-1 Pairing- 1 biggie+1 trivial bills per week is workable.
*1 significant bill a week when clinic's sluggish is also understandable.
*When putting up seems difficult,I use the money saved  in the *CashCan, reschedule slips and make a  stand-in timetable.

(CashCan=p200/day canned cash i save in the clinic and another fill-in at home)

Chalkboard: Aster's Grade 1 "Mess Around" Reviewer

After Aster's 2-hr LapLuck (laptop rest and breather) after school, I start flipping the pages of her books for homeworks and unfinished school tasks (workbooks).I also open her notebooks to check on executions and accomplishments in school, then we start the tawdry #ChalkBoard!

The unearthing of our scurvy board for scribble practice is an opportune stretch for Aster's inexplicable fondness of chalks and beams.I consider this project a smacking tactic, and at the same time an unerring way to impose a daily timetable to review and press on to dot's new lessons in school!

Tipnut Favorite: 11 Ways to Reuse Newspaper Around the House

11 Ways To Reuse Newspaper Around The House from Tipnut:
1.)Use sheets of newspaper to wash your windows, glass table tops and mirrors. Just spray on window cleaner then wipe clean with a sheet of newspaper.
2.)Use in messy cleanup jobs like cleaning the oven, use sheets of crumpled newspaper to wipe up most of the gunk before wiping down with a soapy wet sponge.
3.)Pack newspapers in damp or smelly luggage, stinky plastic containers or smelly fridge to absorb odors. Great to do when packing away camping coolers for the winter, stuff them with newspapers so they won’t stink in the Spring.
4.)Roll newspaper tight and use as firestarters.
5.)Use to wrap parcels and gifts, the cartoon section is popular with the kiddos.
6.)Pack unripened fruit with newspaper to help them ripen quicker.
7.)Painting jobs: lay newspapers on the floor to catch paint splatters, wet sheets of paper and stick on windows when painting window trim, no more splatters on window glass to wipe up.
8.)Line trash cans, use newspapers to line worm bins, line the bottom of a cat litter tray before adding cat litter, makes cleanup easier.
9.)Also use to line pet cages.
10.)Lay sheets of newspapers in garden beds about 1/4″ inch thick before covering with wood chips, mulch or decorative rocks, will help prevent weed growth. Make sure to thoroughly moisten the newspaper before covering with the mulch so they stay in place.
11.)Make garden seed starting pots

------------

Before we junk the papers, let us first review this list. Some of Tipnut readers say they also recycle the dailies by:
1.) Stuffing wet sneakers, boots, etc. It will abosrb all the moisture and shoes will dry much faster!
2.)For cleaning windows, it doesn’t leave linty stuff behind like paper towels do, and a spray bottle filled with a vinegar/water solution works great too.
3.)Put a layer of newspaper in the bottom of the veggie drawer in the fridge to soak up any watery stuff that leaks out of the veggies.
4.) Layer  newspapers in the bottom of the trash bag in the waste basket to soak up any drips so you don’t drip all the way from the waste basket to the trash can outside and have something to clean up when you come back inside.
3.)Spring Cleaning, once you’ve cleaned the top of your kitchen cabinets (open shelf facing ceiling) fold sheets of newpaper to the size of the shelf, and place all along the shelf. It collects dust and grease from frying. No more scrubbing.Next time you spring clean, it will be quick and easy. Just roll the dirty sheets of newspaper together, throw away, then give your shelf a fast wipe and replace with clean newspaper.
4.)Use newspaper to stuff washed tennis shoes. It helps the shoe keep it’s original shape.
5.)You can shred newspapers and use for your pet's cage, then put used stuff in the compost pile.
Cheap and safe for our pet and excellent way to balance the kitchen “green” materials in the compost.

Philhealth's 10K aid to dengue patients in Yolanda-hit areas.

"PhilHealth offers special privileges to typhoon Yolanda victims"

-------------------------------------------------
True.
And we will forever be grateful for Philhealth and Dr.Christine Veloso-Navarro for helping us lessen our hospital bill during my childminders's confinement at Ormoc Gatchian Hospital last week.
I have read about this project but was uncertain of their proposition. When I found out that my minder has dengue(after erratic body temps, discomforts and blood tests),my physician friend told me to include her in the impoverished/penniless list for instant Philhealth aid.
And we were financially abetted.
Thank God for mistimed but still lucky/opportune times.

-------------------------------------------------

Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is extending medical coverage to all “Yolanda” survivors regardless of whether they sought medical treatment in an accredited facility in Tacloban or in any other region in the country.
PhilHealth CEO and President Alexander Padilla told a press conference yesterday that the national health insurance agency is reimbursing medical claims of Yolanda survivors whether they were hospitalized in Tacloban or outside the city. Those who were not members prior to the calamity will still benefit from PhilHealth packages.
“In a way, automatic silang nagiging member kasi nakukuha naming . . . We are covering all, whether they are member or non-member and whether they were treated in Tacloban or in Manila. We are also covering whether they were treated in makeshift medical tents or in a hospital,” Padilla said.
“We’ve given latitude…We are assuming that all cases are Yolanda-related if it happened during that period so that we no longer have to make a distinction if a particular injury was Yolanda-related or not,” he said.
